i like to organize things and i like to be spontaneous — collaging allows me to do both. it’s a way to express recurring emotions and thoughts and visualize the patterns in my head. what I can't articulate in words feels more truly expressed through mark-making, which mirrors how i feel when i’m in the ocean; at home and truly alive.

growing up, i felt deeply split between korean culture, american culture, and my desire to express myself beyond cultural boundaries. now, i often gravitate towards and return to things that symbolize a deeper truth resembling a primal connection, including the ocean, spiritual rituals, and mark-making.

to me, truth — whether it’s self-truth or universal truth — equals love. seeking this truth from a young age, my love of religion evolved into a desire for expression through art. collage is one way i explore my inner world and turn it outward.

i'm an artist and designer, living and working out of long beach, ca with my husband and son.
